In volume 7, the author highlights the rights relevant to marriage. These include the right of all young men and women to early marriage. They are entitled to state help to achieve this. We learn in this volume that the woman has the full right to choose her husband and the right to terminate her marriage. The author lays strong and needed emphasis on the fact that Islam gives men and women equal rights in their marriage and family life. As he discusses divorce and polygamy, he stresses the Islamic manners and controls that apply to both.
About the authors:
Abd al-Halim Abu Shuqqah (d. 1995) was a teacher and scholar specialising in Hadith studies. He dedicated his life to learning, and has taught in Egypt, Syria, Qatar and Kuwait.
Adil Salahi is a scholar, author and translator, who has written or translated into English various books on Islam. He continues to publish many articles in various publications including Arab News, an English daily newspaper published in Saudi Arabia. Adil Salahi has also taught at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education, Leicester, England.
